Kuti Kuti?
Intergenerational Community Arts Project (2022-2023)

VIEW KUTI KUTI? MICROSITE
Kuti Kuti? is an intergenerational community art project that reimagines a game from the past into a life-sized soft sculpture playground. By offering a space which celebrates joyful intuition, unrestrained imagination and improvisation, this project will reignite our innate desire to play regardless of age and connect with people from different ways of life through storytelling. ‘Kuti Kuti’ is a traditional children's game in which two competing players flip tokens on top of their opponents’. Turning competition into connection, Kuti Kuti? Maker Lab hosted participatory workshops for the community to co-create this series of life-size ‘Kuti Kuti’ soft sculptures together.

This interactive installation presents a soft sculpture playground co-created with the public community. How and what we play with reflects our stories and how we might adapt to the world around us. In this collaborative artwork, each ‘Kuti Kuti’ is a personal emblem of play to the individual contributing participants from Kuti Kuti? Maker Lab, ranging from aged 1 year old to 82 years old.

Join us to co-create your Kuti Kuti at our Maker Lab, or come play with our interactive art installation at our Kuti Kuti? Playground Exhibition. Come flip a ‘Kuti Kuti’, discover the birth stories of each ‘Kuti Kuti’ or invent your own rules to play!
